Our Mission of Healing: Central Hospital Badulla
Founded in 1993 as a key healthcare project under the Diocese of Badulla, Central Hospital was acquired to bridge the gap in medical services within the Uva Province. Initiated under the leadership of Rt. Rev. Dr. Edmond J. Fernando O.M.I., the hospital was established to provide a pragmatic and service-oriented solution for the community, ensuring that high-quality healthcare is accessible to all, regardless of their socio-economic background.
As a mission-driven institution, the hospital extends its reach far beyond its walls through monthly free medical camps in remote tea estates and marginalized villages. By integrating professional medical services with a deep commitment to the poor, this project of the Diocese fulfills a holistic vision of care—treating both the mind and body to ensure the total wellbeing of every person in the Badulla and Monaragala districts.
